The Organization
Comprehensive Community-Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) is dedicated to being the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa. As Tanzania’s largest local provider of disability and rehabilitation services, CCBRT also engages in maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC), including obstetric fistula repairs. The Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral center for high-risk and emergency deliveries in Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
The Role
The Head of Procurement, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, will provide strategic leadership and oversight of CCBRT’s procurement department. The successful candidate will:
- Lead efforts to build transparent, standardized, ethical, and safe procurement practices that provide value for money.
- Identify and implement improvements to expedite procurement without compromising quality or compliance.
- Review and revise current procurement arrangements and introduce new policies and practices as needed.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Train staff and strengthen organizational capacity in procurement.
- Implement best practices and industry standards.
- Support value for money and efficiency in procurement, budgeting, and expenditure.
- Plan effectively for major procurements and ensure robust impact and effectiveness controls.
- Promote a culture of impact, collaboration, and excellence in line with CCBRT’s values.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate should have:
- A minimum of a degree in Procurement and registration with the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technician Board (PSPTB) as an authorized supplies officer or stock verifier.
- At least 8 years of experience in the procurement sector, including leadership roles.
- Experience in the health and NGO sectors (preferred).
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset and proven capability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Business acumen and experience in risk management.
- A proven track record in effective contract management.
- Advanced IT skills, with experience using software such as SAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Swahili.
