Job Purpose:
The Costing Accountant is responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine the costs of business activities such as raw material purchases and inventory management to support production. The role ensures strict regulation over material, supply, machinery, and other operational costs while managing budgets and analyzing cost audits. This includes providing accurate costing information, supporting decision-making, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs for raw materials, labor, and inventory.
- Analyze data collected and record results to guide business decisions.
- Assess changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine cost implications.
- Compare actual manufacturing costs to standard costs through periodic reporting.
- Record cost data for expenditure control and prepare audit analysis reports.
- Estimate costs for new and proposed products.
- Generate reports for management on factors affecting product/service pricing and profitability.
- Support month-end close processes for the general ledger.
- Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
- Reconcile finished goods inventories.
- Review purchase requisitions and orders for power and tank factories.

External: Engage with partners, customers, contractors, consulting engineers, and utilities.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum: 2 years
- Preferred: 5 years
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
