Driver (Multiple Positions) – Mwanza and Geita

Reports To: Admin Officer
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Location: Mwanza and Geita
Travel Requirement: Up to 80% travel within intervention districts outside of the job location.

Job Overview

ICAP is hiring Drivers to support our programs in Mwanza and Geita. This role involves the secure transportation of staff, visitors, and goods while maintaining vehicles in excellent condition. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, vehicle maintenance, and adherence to organizational and traffic regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate ICAP vehicles for the secure transport of staff and visitors.
  • Deliver packages, correspondence, and materials to designated locations.
  • Conduct long-distance trips while adhering to road laws, traffic regulations, and ICAP policies.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, ensure all required documents (insurance, road license) are up to date, and perform routine vehicle checks.
  • Verify and maintain oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, water levels, and tire pressures.
  • Record vehicle maintenance activities and alert supervisors to upcoming service needs.
  • Accurately document fuel consumption completed tasks, and incidents or accidents.
  • Assist ICAP staff and visitors as required, ensuring a professional and supportive experience.
  • Comply with ICAP rules and promptly follow procedures in the event of an accident.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Education: Form Four (IV) certificate or higher.
  • Certification: Valid driving license for category B/D. A PSV Certificate from the National Institute of Transport (NIT) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of driving experience with a clean record, preferably with a large organization or company. Experience with 4WD manual vehicles in towns and rural areas is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Basic automobile knowledge for minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
    • Proficient in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
    • Ability to travel extensively to remote areas.
    • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and the ability to create an inclusive and respectful work environment.
