Puma Energy Tanzania is inviting applications from qualified and experienced Tanzanians for the position of Head of Commercial to lead its dynamic Commercial Department.
Position Overview
The Head of Commercial will plan, develop, and implement commercial strategies that support business growth and development. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this senior executive role requires a leader with a strategic mindset, strong negotiation skills, and expertise in managing complex commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company goals.
- Identify market opportunities and areas for expansion or diversification.
- Explore new business opportunities in retail, aviation, and alternative fuels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and clients.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, customers, and partners.
- Lead business development activities to maximize revenue.
- Oversee sales, marketing, and customer base expansion efforts.
- Manage the marketing budget and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Align commercial objectives with financial targets in collaboration with the finance department.
- Mitigate commercial risks, including market volatility and credit risks.
- Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team, setting goals and monitoring performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and public forums.
- Promote environmentally responsible practices and explore alternative energy solutions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related fields.
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in key account management, sales, customer service, or commercial operations.
- A minimum of 5 years in a senior executive position.
- Industry experience in oil and gas, particularly midstream and downstream sectors, is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strategic planning, negotiation, and financial acumen.
- Expertise in sales and marketing operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and market dynamics.
- Ability to foster innovation, manage risks, and lead diverse teams.
