About TANROADS
TANROADS is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland, as well as axle load control operations using weighbridge scales.
To support the Upgrading of Matai – Kasesya (50Km) Road to Bitumen Standard; Lot 2: Tatanda-Kasesya Section (25Km) project in Rukwa Region, TANROADS is seeking a qualified and experienced Highway Engineer to join their team on a specified contract.
Position Title: Highway Engineer (1 Post)
Entry Qualifications
- Registered Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Highway Engineering.
- A postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an added advantage.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in road design and construction.
- Experience in a similar capacity on at least two (2) projects involving the construction of bituminous roads of comparable scale and complexity in the last seven (7) years.
- At least three (3) years of work experience in Sub-Saharan countries.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the head of site staff, managing all technical and administrative aspects on-site.
- Supervise contractors and force account operations on-site.
- Prepare work plans for the project.
- Ensure quality control management.
- Oversee project contracts and ensure compliance.
- Prepare progress reports for contracts and project activities.
- Process contractor invoices and facilitate payments.
- Attend regular site meetings and prepare minutes.
- Monitor and implement social and environmental impact mitigation measures in collaboration with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including reports, work diaries, correspondences, contractor instructions, test records, measurements, payment records, and all relevant documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
Terms of Service
- Contract Type: Specified Contract for 1 year or more, subject to project completion.
- Work Location: Successful candidates must be ready to work for extended periods in the Rukwa Region, where the project is located.
