Position Purpose:
The Import & Export Coordinator is responsible for managing international inbound and outbound freight, ensuring smooth customs clearance, and providing efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions. This role requires maintaining up-to-date records, expediting shipments, and keeping internal stakeholders informed about all freight matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage goods in transit by providing weekly updates, tracking waybills, and shipment values.
- Expedite inbound shipment pre-alerts.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and clearing agents for customs clearance processes.
- Generate daily/weekly reports on inbound freight and meet management or business requirements.
- Review and maintain accurate shipping documentation and records.
- Ensure suppliers’ invoices have complete supporting documents before submission to finance.
- Facilitate export goods clearance with clearing agents and shipping lines.
- Address inbound freight logistics queries using business tools like LPS, Aurora, and system 21 DI.
- Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates on freight matters.
- Comply with Sandvik’s Environmental, Health, Safety & Quality Management policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or department head.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain operations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Aurora).
- Experience in customs clearance and addressing customer queries and complaints.
- Exposure to the mining industry or related industries is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong numerical aptitude and data analysis skills.
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and conscientiousness.
- Adaptable, self-reliant, and proactive, with the ability to work independently.
