Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, including attending safety courses, using PPE, and reporting incidents or hazards.
- Conduct daily hazard identification in work areas and rectify or report them (minimum five per shift).
- Complete accurate Field Level Risk Assessments for all assigned tasks.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures for safe work, including isolation, lockout, confined spaces, working at height, and lifting.
- Perform scheduled equipment inspections, and preventive maintenance, and report defects promptly.
- Participate in team-based Job Safety Analysis for non-standard tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace during and after tasks.
- Install, maintain, and overhaul electrical equipment to reduce downtime and enhance availability.
- Conduct electrical testing and safety checks on mining equipment, including drills.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment breakdowns efficiently.
- Provide on-the-job training to less experienced personnel under supervisor guidance.
- Ensure proper documentation, including logbooks, inspection reports, and audit-ready records.
Qualifications
- Diploma or VETA Level 3 Certificate in Electrical studies from a recognized institution.
- Valid driving license (added advantage).
- Electrical license and high-voltage certification (added advantages).
Experience and Competencies
- Minimum of three years of experience in the mining industry (underground experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in low-voltage installations (single and three-phase).
- Skilled in hazard identification and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- Computer literacy, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Effective communication in English and Swahili.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
